Did you know that the first Deity statue ever found was of a Goddess. Some of the most prominent cave paintings are paintings of a voluptuous fertility Goddess. Goddess worship has been around for eons and men gladly celebrated her along with the women of their tribes. For centuries, women were appreciated, loved, and sought after for their wisdom. Men figured we must be magical because, every month we bled for days and did not die. Sounds pretty magical to me as well.
Girls looked up to their elders for guidance and eagerly anticipated the day when they too would receive their monthly flow and become an honored and welcomed member of the "Red Tent". They anxiously awaited their turn to experience their rite of passage. To join the ranks of the beautifully decorated, noble, and wise women of their tribes. We, in all of our so-called modern wisdom, call these ceremonies primitive and unnecessary. Some of the more extreme ones I might agree with you, but the ones that encourage excitement, self-confidence, and pride in girls I feel are very appropriate. They teach young girls to be happy and proud of their womanhood and remind the rest of us to rejoice in our sacred Goddess Divinity.
I want to bring back rite of passage ceremonies for young girls and adult women. I want to find a way to guide us back to the strong genetic and spiritual ties we had to Mother Earth and Sister Moon. A time when we happily and openly celebrated our bodies and depth of spirit. I want us to remember how we felt so strong, loved, and cherished within ourselves. And how, we joyfully recognized each other as co-creators and sisters of grace and wisdom.
I want us to feel excited about our monthly menstrual cycle. It is such a powerfully creative time for us, but sadly in our modern world it is often neglected. We have been taught to hate our bodies and nearly every function that makes us uniquely female. We expect to experience pain and so; we experience pain. We ignore our sacred vessel and it falls apart from years of neglect. We feel betrayed by our bodies, but it has done nothing wrong. It has silently and courageously done its best to survive; to give when too often it has received so little in return for the miracles it performs for us daily.
I want us to fall in love with ourselves again. I want us to joyfully celebrate our bodies. I want us to treat our bodies with dignity and the respect it deserves. I want us to listen to the quiet whisper of our intuition and the wisdom that it shares with us daily. I want us to feel free to explore all the dark and light corners of our precious feminine existence and to find our way back to the blessed and glorious Goddesses that we are.
It will not happen overnight, but if you are willing to pull back the veil and peek around the corner. You may discover something wonderful about yourself. Take a moment and think of something that you admire about yourself. You are a magical being... please do not allow the mundane madness of modern life dim your presence.
I honor you and wish for you many blessings and the fulfillment of your dreams,
High Priestess Cyndi aka HP Femi sAA (High Priestess of Love and Wisdom)
